Concept

The Unmanifested simulates the liminal space which can only be accessed by living beings. This is where creativity originates. The formless, silent space from which all expression arises.

Intent

A space that's always accessible to living beings. The void, the darkness.

In an era where artificial intelligence increasingly shapes our reality, this work questions how we, as living beings, access the unmanifested — a realm AI can never fully mirror, only accessible through consciousness.

Visual Language

Visual structure is inspired by the seven chakras, expressed through color, rhythm, and form.

Each chakra is paired with a base animation derived from principles of sacred geometry, serving as an energetic and symbolic bridge between the immaterial and the visible. The animation moves the particles along the vector field of each visual.

System Architecture

The system is built in TouchDesigner.

A gradient ramp algorithm responds to each base animation and feeds into a GLSL vector field and instancing network, generating particle-based visuals that evolve continuously over time.

Post-processing and secondary effects shape the final atmosphere.

Responsiveness

Animations designed from sacred geometry act as triggers within the system.

These forms influence the movement and behavior of the particle field, allowing visuals to unfold dynamically according to the underlying structure rather than fixed timelines.

Controls & Autonomy

The system includes minimal controls, such as particle velocity, allowing subtle modulation without disrupting the flow.

Once initiated, the system runs autonomously — producing continuous variation without repetition.

Output & Installation

The system generates 98 unique visual outputs, rendered as video files in specific formats.

These are sequenced within a Resolume composition that runs automatically and adapts to different screen formats.

The work can also be mapped to non-traditional surfaces, including circular installations.

The Unmanifested is not a fixed artwork, but a living system.

By working with generative processes, sacred geometry, and real-time systems, this piece becomes a meditation on presence — a reminder that creativity does not originate from machines, but from the silent space within us.
